Soundings: More than Mahler
Wednesday 24 November 2010, 7.30pm
The Forge, 3-7 Delancey Street
London NW1 7NL

Soundings, , the Austrian Cultural Forum’s platform , now in its 7th year, is a unique platform for contemporary music presenting and profiling young composers and artists from the United Kingdom and Austria in workshops, symposia and performance.

It takes place twice a year in London, a week in May at the Austrian Cultural Forum London and again in a major London concert venue in November.

In 2009 Soundings went to Vienna for the first time and in September 2010, the first Soundings concert took place in Venice.

Soundings offers a rare opportunity to meet some of today’s leading composers from Austria and the UK, watch them at work and hear their latest compositions - many receiving their UK premiere - performed by some of the finest young musicians.

Soundings allows an in-depth examination into the latest trends in contemporary music. It contrasts the current stylistic developments in Austria and the UK and is a “must” for all those interested in new music and performance.

This concert features works by Gustav Mahler and by composers presented during May’s ‘Inspired by Mahler’ themed platform along with composers from previous years.
